Ashlee Simpson Bio:

She might be the younger sister of superstar Jessica Simpson, but don't confuse their tastes or style when it comes to music. Waco, TX-born Ashlee Simpson always loved music. At age 11 she was the youngest person ever admitted into the School of American Ballet. At 14 she moved with her parents and older sister to Los Angeles and spent time dancing in Jessica's stage show. Appearances on Malcolm in the Middle and The View lead to a regular role on the television show Seventh Heaven but Ashlee's heart was set on a music career. One of her songs, "Just Let Me Cry", landed on the Freaky Friday soundtrack in 2003 and Ashlee continued work on her rocking and punky demos when Seventh Heaven wasn't in production. Geffen was impressed and released her debut album, Autobiography, in 2004 as MTV was debuting Ashlee's own reality show.

Ashlee Simpson was born on October 3, 1984 in Richardson, Texas (a suburb of Dallas) to parents Joe Truett Simpson (Baptist Minister) and Tina Anne Drew. Her older sister is pop star Jessica Simpson (pop diva).

She enjoyed dancing at a very young age, and is one of the youngest people to ever be enrolled at the School of American Ballet at age 11. Her family moved to Los Angeles after her sister landed her first album deal.

She has made a few appearances on various television shows, including a reoccurring role on TVs Seventh Heaven.

In 2004 she broke out from the shadow of her sister with a "reality" show on MTV, and the release of her first album, which sold very well.

Late 2004 & early 2005 was a down period for Ashley. She made headlines when she was found to have lip-synched her performance on Saturday Night Live in October 2004. Then a few months later, in January 2005, she was booed when she appeared live at the Orange Bowl.

She appeared in the role of Clea in the movie Undiscovered in 2005. Her performance nominated her the Razzie award (note: here sister Jessica was also nominated for the award for Dukes of Hazzard, but neither won).

2005, however, was a good year for in other ways. In February, she appeared on the cover of Cosmopolitan and then her sophomore album, I Am Me, was released in October and went straight up to number one on the charts (although sales had slowed down by early next year).
